Questions about insurance for churches & faith communities

Practical answers for a more useful conversation with a provider.

Are all volunteers insured automatically?

Ask how the policy defines insured persons and accepted activities. Describe volunteer duties, off-site work and transport rather than relying on volunteer status alone.

Does general liability settle abuse-related protection?

No assumption should be made. Ask specifically about allegations, exclusions, insured people, defence costs and required safeguarding procedures.

Should community hall rentals be declared?

Yes. Explain users, activities and agreements and ask how the organisation’s policy relates to the hirer’s own protection.

Does sending an enquiry buy insurance?

No. It asks the network team to respond. Only a suitable provider can confirm an offer, acceptance and the effective insurance arrangement.

Can I enquire from Canada or the United States?

Choose your actual country and province, state or territory. Provider availability and eligibility depend on the market; sending an enquiry does not establish acceptance.

What should I leave out of the form?

Leave out medical records, government IDs, payment details and policy documents. Share general needs here; use a provider’s secure process if sensitive records are later required.
